Lindsay McCarson
Resident in Counseling | In-Person Therapy for Children, Teens and Adults
Creating a warm, supportive space for children, teens and young adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, and life’s challenges while building resilience, self-understanding, and meaningful connection.
“I believe no one is defined by the challenges they face. Each person has the capacity for healing, growth, and meaningful change.”
Support Through Life’s Challenges
Life experiences can sometimes leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward. Lindsay works with children, teens, young adults, and adults experiencing:
Anxiety
Depression
Self-esteem challenges
Life transitions
Stress and other life challenges
Lindsay creates a compassionate space where clients can feel seen, heard, and accepted. She helps clients better understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, and develop tools for moving forward with greater confidence and resilience.
A Warm and Collaborative Approach
Lindsay approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and authenticity. She believes therapy is most effective when clients feel safe being themselves and are active participants in the process.
Her person-centered and collaborative approach may incorporate:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness
Strengths-based strategies
Developmentally appropriate interventions
Together, Lindsay and her clients work toward greater self-awareness, emotional wellness, resilience, and meaningful connection.
Experience Supporting Children and Families
Before becoming a Resident in Counseling, Lindsay spent 11 years as a school counselor, supporting students and families through academic, social, and emotional challenges.
Her years in the school setting gave her extensive experience understanding children and teens within the broader context of their families, schools, relationships, and developmental needs. They also deepened her passion for helping people navigate transitions and led her to outpatient counseling, where she can build deeper therapeutic relationships with clients.
Lindsay earned her Master of Education in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Supervised Professional Care
Lindsay is a Resident in Counseling working toward independent licensure in Virginia. She provides counseling under the supervision of Missy McKissick, LPC, and Amy Reamer, LMFT, RPT-S, with regular opportunities for consultation and support.
As a Resident in Counseling, Lindsay has completed her graduate education and continues developing her clinical experience through Virginia’s supervised residency process.
