A regulation-informed, relationship-centered practice
Before You Apply

We encourage you to read through this page. Our goal is not just to fill positions—but to find clinicians who align with how we understand and approach therapy.
At Heart and Mind, strong alignment in philosophy and approach leads to better experiences for both clinicians and clients. This page is designed to help you determine whether this is the right fit for you—and whether you are the right fit for our team.

Our Approach to Therapy

We are a regulation-informed practice.
We view clients as the experts in their own lives. Therapy is about supporting their goals—not imposing our own beliefs, values, or agenda.
We prioritize connection, regulation, and understanding—not just symptom reduction.
Our work is grounded in:
-
Developmental trauma
-
Polyvagal theory
-
Attachment and relational care
-
Adoption-informed perspectives
We support clinicians in building a therapeutic toolbox that fits them—while maintaining a shared philosophy that creates a cohesive client experience across our practice.

Independent Roles. Shared Philosophy.
At Heart and Mind, interns, residents, and licensed clinicians each have distinct roles and goals. These are not automatic pipelines or guaranteed transitions.
Some clinicians stay and grow within the practice.
Some move into private practice or other paths.
All paths are valid—but what matters most here is alignment in how we understand and work with clients.
We are not a one-size-fits-all group of clinicians.
We are a shared-philosophy, varied-style practice.
Who Thrives Here
Clinicians who thrive at Heart and Mind:
-
You value flexibility over rigid, one-size-fits-all approaches
-
You pay attention to the nervous system—your own and your clients’—and let that guide your work
-
You’re drawn to experiential, relational, and developmentally-informed therapy, not just talk-based models
-
You appreciate having autonomy in the room, with support and consultation available when you need it
-
You want to build depth and skill over time—not just fill a caseload
-
You prefer primarily in-person work, with the flexibility to incorporate telehealth when it makes sense
-
You enjoy focusing on your clients and your notes, without carrying the weight of running a business
-
You’re interested in growing beyond the therapy room—through supervision, training, or contributing to a larger clinical ecosystem
