Commonly Asked Questions

What Is Tame Your Tiger?

The goal of Tame Your Tiger is to gain more flexibility in our nervous system and spend more time in the “Fun” Zone and getting back to it easier and quicker when we go into our Fight/Flight and Freeze Zone - which can happen for many reasons.

The goal of the Tame Your Tiger Program is to help our brains and bodies be more flexible in our responses to the world. The goal - be wired for connection instead of protection!

How does it work?

We do a comprehensive assessment and work from the foundation up. If we come in on the 2nd floor but the issues are in the foundation or the 1st floor - we will see limited/short lived results.  We need to know where to start and go from there.

We can work our muscles by lifting weights, doing aerobics etc. How do you workout your nervous system? We access the nervous system through our breathing and our auditory systems. We use well researched and effective programs. We have used them ourselves and with our own children too.

Toby keeps finding himself in trouble.

He promises not to do it again and tries to do what he is told to do. It's not working though. Once Toby learns more about his brain, the tiger, the hippo and the owl - life gets better. This book is to help parents, teachers and counselors teach their children about their brain and empower them to provide co-regulation which leads to self-regulation.

Additional FAQ's

FAQ

Q. What is regulation? What is co-regulation?

A. Picture a teeter totter. Your or Your child is on one end and life (environment and experiences) is on the other side. A parent/caregiver/teacher/adult/peer/other helps a child regulate their responses to what life puts on the other side. They help them adjust up and down without slamming up or down.  The more this happens the less help the child needs from others because that co-regulation is now internal and becomes self-regulation. There’s a myth that this comes simply with chronological age (growing up) - it’s experience-based not age-based.  Learn More.
